Q: Background Information - The Exciting Lighting Company Ltd?

A: The Exciting Lighting Company Ltd was formed in October 2001 (company No. 4303743) to design, develop and market the Lighting Panel concept that we now sell. We are a small family business and take great pride in the level of friendly customer care and service that we offer to our growing number of customers. This is something that is reflected in the many kind comments and repeat orders that we receive. (see customer comments section) We manufacture our Lighting Panels from start to finish at our factory in Solihull. West Midlands. We are full members of the Lighting Association which has it's headquarters in Telford, Shropshire and is the main trade body in the UK and the largest in Europe for producers of quality lighting Products. www.lightingassociation.com    We are also full members of ACID (anti copying in design) an association which protects our registered design rights for our range of Lighting Panel designs.

Q: I've never seen a lighting panel before - what happens if I don't like it after I have bought one?

A:
According to our customers, this is unlikely, however, to enable you to experience at first-hand just what a stunning difference our lighting panels can make to your home, we are happy to offer you a generous no-quibble guarantee. If you are not delighted by this addition to your living space, we will refund your money (excluding return carriage costs) if you return your panels to us within 60 days of receipt. This is in addition to our warranty below.

We are making this special offer because we would like you to experience the ambience and style our lighting can add to a room. As we know of no one else that currently manufacturers a comparable product (and we are planning to manufacture less than 500 panels this year) we want you to feel absolutely confident about your choice.

Don't forget that we are able to offer lots of friendly advice about which finishes and designs might work well in any given room. Just call us on 0845 868 3652 or send us an e mail via our contact page.

Q: What warranty does The Exciting Lighting Company offer?

A: Lighting panels are sold with a twelve month warranty against product defects. Our 60-day return guarantee above is in addition to your normal statutory rights. To give you triple protection and peace of mind, we also provide a 3-year manufacturers warranty on all parts, although you can fully expect our Lighting Panels to provide many more years of trouble-free service.

Furthermore, our lighting panels have been fully approved to British Standard   BS4533:Section 102.1:1990 BS EN 60598-2-6:1995 with BS EN 60598-1:2000 by the Lighting Association technical laboratories. www.lightingassociation.com. This means that they are safe for use in any room in the home, including the bathroom (Zone 3).

Each and every panel is handcrafted to customer order, and as a family business, we take great pride and care in ensuring that our product will provide many years of reliability and satisfaction.

Q: Are they easy to fit and maintain?

A: Our lightweight Lighting Panels are designed to be fitted anywhere on the ceiling - there is no need to find joists as the brackets fix directly onto a plasterboard ceiling.

They are really very easy to install as we provide the template, fixings and full written instructions. (To quote one happy customer: 'If you can rewire a plug and use a drill, you can fit a lighting panel. The instructions were very clear.' - Cathy from Bradford .)

Intelligent electronics mean they require no special wiring as they fit easily to the existing light fitting that hangs from your ceiling and can be operated from your existing 'on/off' light switch.

Our easy-fix brackets also offer the following benefits:

You can simply unhook the lighting panel if you need to redecorate or if you want to take it with you when you move house.

The option of easily installing halogen lighting without cutting holes in your ceiling or damaging existing decorations.

The modular electronic design of the panels also ensures that, in the unlikely event that a component fails, it can easily be replaced.

Q: Are they expensive to run and maintain?

A: Our lighting panels are energy efficient and cost-efficient to maintain:

Each low voltage 20-watt G4 halogen capsule emits considerably more visible light than an equivalent standard incandescent 20-watt lamp.

On the most popular setting, our lighting panel should consume less electricity than a 60-watt light bulb.

The life of halogen capsules will of course vary, depending on how much they are used. However, as a general guide, 12months would be a reasonable average. Should a halogen capsule fail in the first 12 months, we will send you a replacement free of charge. Replacement halogen capsules are available direct from the Exciting Lighting Company at very competitive prices or from most electrical retailers.

We only use very high quality LED's and under normal conditions they should last many years. However, the design of the lighting panels means that if a LED fails, the remaining LEDs will continue to work and   a replacement LED can be fitted very easily.

The core of our panels is manufactured from recycled material, representing 80% of the finished panel, helping to reduce waste and providing environmental benefits.

Q: Can I get my Lighting Panel in a colour of my choice to match my room?

A: Yes, for a small additional cost of £29.99, we can paint your panel in a special colour of your choice to exactly match the colour of your room.

Q: How do I place my Order?

A: Simply ring our Order Line on 0845 868 3652. We can then answer any questions you might have, organise finish samples, or help you complete your order details. (This is the preferred option for most of our customers.)

Alternatively you can request a brochure and complete our order form. You can then either ring our Order Line above or immediately fax your order form to 0845 868 3607 or post your order to our business address.

We accept all common credit cards (or cheques with order form.)

The current lead-time from order to delivery is 4/5 weeks.   There are no hidden costs as all our prices include VAT and delivery for UK Mainland (- there may be modest additional carriage charges for other areas. e.g. Highlands & Islands)   Currently,we are only able to supply orders to the UK.

Q: Can I see samples of the finishes ?

A: Yes of course, just call or e mail and tell us which finishes you would like to see, and we will put them in the post to you.

Q: How do lighting panels work?

A: The electronics were developed specifically for The Exciting Lighting Company by a specialist electronics company allied to Birmingham University. Using the latest LED (light emitting diode) technology, microprocessor chips, electronic circuitry and remote control technology, has allowed us to be the first company to offer such a product to the UK residential market.

Q: What happens if I lose my remote control unit?

A: We can supply a replacement, but it will require an engineer to visit to encode the replacement remote control.   You can order a second Remote Control if you wish for £29.99 when you purchase your lighting panel.

Q: Will my lighting panel still work if I lose my remote control?

A: Yes. The electronic design means that when you switch on the wall switch, the halogen lights will always come on. This is a design feature to ensure that there is always enough light so that you can locate your remote control. However, if you lose your remote control you will not be able to dim the halogen lights or use the LED's.

Q: Can you fit a Lighting Panel in a Bathroom?

A:
Yes, Lighting Panels are British Standard certified for use in bathrooms in zone 3(see diagram).
